I should add that when I tried to get the Saratoga City Historian and the Historian at the Museum of Racing to provide some background pertaining to this theory, neither one would return the call! That speaks volumes to me. So win, place or show, our boy Holmes was seldom the loser at the track, all thanks to his native horse sense and a few well-placed tips from people in the know!

An avid Sherlockian since her teenage years, Ms. Karlson has contributed to and edited various Sherlockian journals in the U.S. and Canada, presented learned papers and toasts at scion meetings, and now most enjoys attending society meetings, special conferences and Silver Blazes, especially in foreign countries. Her most recent visit was to the annual meeting of the Sherlock Holmes Society of France in Paris on May 25 - 27, 2001.
